You Are About to Learn Techniques to Build Chords to Play ANY Style of Music!
I really enjoy your method of teaching and yes, I have researched the other "online piano lessons", but don`t find their content to be even close to yours.

Creative keyboard harmony demands intellectual, visual, tactile and aural control of every chord. This can be demonstrated by the following illustration:
Step-by-Step chord building formula
Gain intellectual control think of each note of the chord in numerical terms.
Instead of identifying a note of a chord by its obvious letter name ( A , C, D, etc.) you must learn to identify the note number.
The number describes the exact interval between the root note and the particular note in question.
For example, instead of identifying the notes of a C7 chord as C , E, G, Bb, you must also see these notes as the root , 3rd, 5th and 7th of the C7 chord.
Also, be sure that you know the name of each chord as you play it.
Don`t Worry if You Don`t Understand 7th Chords, because Believe it or not Dozens and Dozens of Pop Tunes can be Played Using Just 3 CHORDS!
My name is Ron Worthy - and yes - I`m a "real live musician." Not some fictional personality conjured up just to market a website.
Oh yes, that`s me on the right with the "late and great," Cab Calloway!
I play piano for a living. And let me tell you this: I love what I do. Sure I tried other jobs. (What musician hasn`t!) But I`ve always come back to music. And for the last twenty years - music has been my permanent home.
During that time I`ve found that there are a lot of people wanting to learn to play piano. They`ve been wanting to learn how to play piano for a long time - but because of jobs and kids and mortgage payments - they just never found the time.
Finally You Will Learn How to Play Piano
But a funny thing happened in those last twenty years. It`s called the Internet. And it`s made the impossible easy.
It wasn`t too long ago that to learn how to play piano - you had to go to an instructor. Or get one to come to you. If someone said you could "learn to play piano over the phone," you`d think they were crazy.
Crazy Like A Fox
But now you literally can learn how to play piano "over the phone." Or cable, or broadband or whatever means you use to access the web.
Play Piano Tonight is your private online piano lessons resource, whenever you want.
The Play Piano Tonight Difference
Heck - you and I know that there`s more than one website promising to teach you how to play piano. And I`ll be honest - some aren`t bad at all. But let me tell you why Play Piano Tonight is different. Even unique.
Here it goes: The other sites just give you piano lessons. Here - you`ll get piano lessons directly from me. I know what works and what doesn`t. I "gig" every night! But more importantly, I am a recording artist. I`m going to teach you how to "interpret" lead sheets to be able to play piano proficiently, as quickly as humanly possible.
The Personal Touch
I`m not just talking the talk. I`m walking the walk. When you sign up here - you`re signing up with the me personally. You`re hearing me play the piano now!
When you get your Play Piano Tonight lessons - they come directly from me.
I don`t use "ghostwriters." When you have a question - I`ll be the one answering them. Not some "musical service expert" from India.
Another Important Difference
Other play piano online courses can teach you the basics. But you don`t want just the basics. You want to play piano "your music." Play piano music that you like. Play piano music that you want to hear. Play piano music that inspires you - and not just the instructor. When you sit down and play piano - you want to play your songs.
That`s the unique advantage you`ll get here. Send me the piano music that you want to learn. I`ll deconstruct it and teach you how it`s played. We`ll "tear" your song apart. You`ll easily understand and learn how to play it yourself.
Just imagine the fun you`ll be having learning how to play piano!
Finally playing real piano music on your own. In no time at all.
How Does It Work?
So? just how does this online piano program work? It`s really very easy! All you basically need is an internet connection and a piano or keyboard to practice on. That`s it. Of course - a desire to learn helps too!

Do You Know the Easiest Scaleto Play on the Piano?
Have you noticed that all beginner piano method programs (online and offline) continue to introduce students to the C Major Scale as a starting point?
There`s a common belief among educators and aspiring pianists, that the C Major Scale should be the first scale to master, because it is built on ALL white keys.
This is a myth!
J ust because the C Major Scale uses all white keys, it doesn`t make it easer to learn and play! The easiest scale to play on the piano is the D-Flat Major Scale . It "fits" neatly underneath your fingers and is built using 5 black keys and only 2 white keys.
And guess what?
You only have to use the first 4 fingers of each hand to play the scale. (1 is your thumb; 2 is your "index" finger; 3 is your middle finger; and 4 is your "ring" finger) The thumb is played on the F and C of the scale.
Review the black and white D-flat Major Scale diagram below. The right hand finger numbers are indicated on top, and the left hand finger numbers are at the bottom.
Tip: To construct chords of the D-flat Major Scale, just play every other circle on the diagram!
The reason why I`ve introduced this scale to you from the outset, is because you need to start playing and transposing songs from C Major to D-flat Major (Db) and definitely, A-flat Major (Ab).
Why Ab Major?
Because ANYBODY can sing in Ab Major. I learned this years ago. Make sure you learn to play "Happy Birthday" in the key of Ab Major!
So the next time you`re at a Birthday Party, and you`re asked to accompany the party crowd, when you start playing, make sure you play Happy Birthday in the key of Ab Major.
The singers will all sound great because it is a very easy vocal range for the human voice, regardless of gender!
Have you noticed that there are many Hymns written in Ab and Db? The next time you go to Church, review the songs in your Hymnal.
Each Key Has a Personality of Its Own
A song played in the key of C can sound much more colorful and vibrant if played in the key of Db.
Each key has a personality of its own, and most musicians agree that the key of C has a rather dull personality, and D-flat an interesting and alive one.
If you have a good piano, try an experiment. Play some whole notes, slowly, using only white keys. Now play a similar phrase on black keys only.
The black keys have a roundness of tone that is decidedly different than the white keys. "Bell-like." Therefore, when a key is used which has more sharps (#) or flats (b), it usually is more exciting and interesting to listen to.

When you study this DVD, you will finally know how to create your own music to play piano with enjoyment!
I`m going to teach you how to add "sizzle" to published music and at the same time show you how to cultivate your creative offerings on the keyboard.
Following is just a sample of what you will learn:
And of course, you will learn even more without reading a single note of music!
I would like to congratulate you on your Beginner`s Video DVD "Tricks of the Trade!"
I know you put many hours of time and effort to make this a reality. Me, as a beginner, had to view it a few times before I started to "get it!"
I definitely look forward to you making future DVDs, and I will buy them as well. (Some DVDs you may consider making are R&B Song Lessons, Jazz "riffs" and Blues Lessons)
Ron, I have already made up a song from watching your DVD video, at least it sounds like a song!
I was "messing" around with one of those riffs you played in the video, so I started practicing it. My teenage son was stopped in his tracks and said: "whooooa, play that again Dad that sounds phat!" (Kool).
I still have a long, long way to go, as far as learning and playing to a point where I can play outside my home, but this is a beginning.
Ron, overall, I thank you again for this video. I am having so much FUN playing it and going right to my keyboard to practice.
I waited a long time for this DVD to arrive, and it was worth the wait.

Making Music at the Piano: Learning Strategies for Adult Students, by Barbara English Maris. Oxford University Press, (198 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10016), 2000. 227 pp., plus appendixes, notes and index.
Barbara English Maris, professor emerita of the Catholic University of America, draws on her extensive experience to write an engaging, well-organized resource dedicated to adults who have made a place for piano in their busy lives. This book is designed for adult students of all levels. She emphasizes that there are "many pathways to musically satisfying experiences." It contains a wide variety of ideas on how to set realistic expectations, develop technical skills and value the process of learning. Maris developed the suggestions and activities in this book during her experiences with her students. She encourages adults to discover which of these techniques will bring them the most satisfaction. Furthermore, she is a role model of how to teach adults. Maris`s text offers teachers added insight into the special communication skills and strategies that work with all levels of the adult learner.
Although written for students, this book also is a valuable resource to piano teachers who desire to understand the blend of contemporary and traditional pedagogical techniques, needed when working with adult students; for example, analogies are an extremely effective teaching tool when working with adults. Humor is another tool known to relieve tension. This author effectively uses both of these techniques. Maris also makes the point that conceptual and kinesthetic learning involve different responses, and adults will get frustrated when they do not succeed at their pieces immediately. This book will aid teachers in understanding what strategies to offer adult students to help them increase the effectiveness of their practice time and to be patient with themselves. For instance, productive practice sessions must include time for silent study of the music and time to assess what will be played. Teachers are offered many suggestions to engage adults, such as by encouraging them to participate in the selec tion of the music they play. Points to help adults avoid the pitfalls that will delay their progress also are offered.
This book is divided into two main parts. In Part I, the author focuses on "Pianists and Pianos." It discusses realistic goals for the adult student and how one can acquire a fine sense of musicianship regardless of a student`s level. This theme of playing musically is addressed throughout the book and this idea is extremely important in maintaining student interest. The chapter on pedaling techniques for both acoustic and digital pianos is valuable for students of all ages to read. Pedaling techniques have always been one of the most misunderstood skills for students. This chapter presents a step-by-step approach to the use of all pedals that demystifies this area. In Part II, the author writes about "Pianists at Pianos: Productive Practice." Even the most motivated adults have limited practice time because of the demands of their careers and family. The author presents a large variety of effective practice techniques that will help students realize their goals, both mentally and physically. There also are many interesting and valuable activities providing guidelines in mastering rhythmic situations that will lead to the student acquiring the right listening skills.
Each of the thirteen chapters in this book is divided into four categories of material, including Concepts to Consider, Activities to Explore, Thoughts About Words and Additional Resources. The book is organized sequentially, and most situations an adult student will experience are described. Solutions and activities are offered to address these situations to create a positive learning experience for the student. Differences in learning and teaching styles also are addressed. Clear terminology, wide margins with boxed highlights, frequent topical headings and the overall layout of the book is very user-friendly for browsers.
The appendixes offer suggestions for sight reading, beginning a new piece and many other technical aides. The resource books provided are well recognized as being excellent in their area.
I am personally impressed with the thoroughness of this book. The teacher will gain many pedagogical insights from this book. Adult students will gain reinforcement of lessons and supportive guidelines that will make their musical journey an exciting and secure path.
